A falcon at the falconry stand. Falcons differ from hawks in that they are very swift flying birds, with pointed wings, whereas hawks have broad wings with fingered ends. Falcons such as this can catch other birds such as grouse and ptarmigan on the wing.

A hawk being held by his handler at the Falconry display. Hawks are often flown to catch small game such as rabbits. Handling birds of prey such as these is a rare skill and requires tremendous patience.

Pelicans are water birds with massive beaks containing a pouch in which they can carry huge quantity of foods either to store for later or to give to their chicks.

Flamingos are filter feeders. They live in lakes and filter the water through their peculiarly shaped bills to extract the small organisms which are their food.
