Philippine holiday (part 8)

***************************************

Thursday, 18th August 2005. The day we left Malabuyoc

A very sad moment...bidding farewell to everyone.

We drove back to Cebu, uneventfully apart from the long time we were stuck behind lorries full of pigs and cattle going at about fifteen miles an hour. They swapped places at one point, the cattle overtaking the pigs, on a blind bend where there was absolutely no way of seeing what was coming in the other direction. Still, we got there uneventfully and caught the flight back to Davao.

In the evening Ivy's best friends Hannah &  Juvie with Boboy (her fiance) came to her. They went to the Venue, then to Matina Town Square, then to Rizal Street  with Ivy's cousin Fatima and Ivy's sister Joanavi. As before, David stayed behind to put Charles to bed.

AT THE VENUE

They proceeded to Matina Town Square but it was too crowded, so they fled and went to Rizal Street instead. There were a few live bands playing.

RIZAL STREET

They met up with Hannah's boyfriend Joy.

Friday, 19th August 2005

In the morning we did our last minute shopping. The centre of Davao was cordoned off from traffic, and preparations were in hand for a festival on the weekend (KADAYAWAN SA DABAW-means good harvest). Unfortunately we hadn't realised it was on, otherwise we could have arranged our timing differently to see it. Anyway we were able to see the decorations ....

In the evening, we visited Ivy's cousins on her mother's side.

20th August 2005. It's time to say goodbye.

The last minute photographs with Ivy's immediate family.

Ren-Ren, Nino, Gerricks (behind) and Xena, with Charles paying no attention.

Ivy and her best friend Caroline and her sister Maricris with Christine Mae (Ivy's God daugther, Maricris' daughter) also came to visit.

Caroline is Ivy's best friend from University. Though she was running after her busy schedule at work she still managed to find time to see Ivy even for just a few minutes. Caroline lives in Butuan City., about 4 hours bus drive.

The anxiety of some people-to make friends is so intense, that they never have old ones.

In prosperity our friends know us, in adversity we know our friends.

True friends are hard to find. Thanks very much Wakie for the time & effort..

Carp in the fish pond.

Model of the new Airbus A380, ordered by but not yet delivered to Singapore Airlines.

Charles said he wanted a toy car, and immediately found the most expensive one in the country. Fortunately it was too big to get into our hand luggage!

Need to be there to prevent destruction ...

Someone insisted on sitting in the trolley, then quickly realised it was rather uncomfortable and insisted on getting out!

Waiting in the lounge

Still waiting.
